At your pet’s first visit, we will take a thorough history and perform a detailed dermatologic examination. A skin cytology and/or scraping is commonly performed to evaluate bacteria, yeast, or mites that may inhabit the skin. We will discuss your pet’s skin, ear, or allergy concerns and may recommend additional diagnostic tests such as allergy testing, bacterial, and fungal cultures. We will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to you and your pets specific needs. Our goal is to provide relief, long-term management, and improved quality of life for your pet.

Medications may be prescribed which can range from $50 to about $200.
Initial consultations typically last 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the complexity of your pet’s condition. Follow-up visits are generally shorter but vary based on your pet’s response to treatment.

The timeline for improvement depends on the condition being treated. Some infections respond to treatment within days, while chronic conditions such as allergies may require ongoing management with gradual improvement over weeks to months.
Many dermatologic conditions, especially allergies and autoimmune diseases, require long-term management. Our goal is to develop a treatment plan that keeps your pet comfortable and minimizes flare-ups.
Some skin conditions, like ringworm (a fungal infection), sarcoptic mange (scabies), or certain bacterial infections, can be contagious to humans and other pets. If your pet has a suspected contagious condition, we will recommend appropriate precautions and treatment.
